PSO Petrol Price In Pakistan Today federal government has announced a reduction in petrol and high-speed diesel prices, effective from 1 January 2026, bringing short-term relief for millions of Pakistanis at the start of the new year. The decision was taken after reviewing global oil prices and recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).

Fuel Prices Revised After Global Market Review

According to the official notification, the Petroleum Division revised fuel prices in response to changes in international oil markets. The announcement was made late at night, following the usual government practice for fortnightly fuel price updates.

Petrol, which is mostly used by motorcycles, cars, rickshaws, and small vehicles, has been reduced significantly. High-speed diesel, which powers heavy transport and agricultural machinery, has also seen a notable cut. However, prices of light-speed diesel and kerosene oil remain unchanged.

Latest Petrol and Diesel Rates in Pakistan

With effect from 01 January 2026, the updated petroleum prices are as follows:

  • Petrol (Super): Rs. 253.17 per litre
  • High-Speed Diesel (HSD): Rs. 257.08 per litre
  • Light-Speed Diesel (LSD): Rs. 159.76 per litre
  • Kerosene Oil: Rs. 176.81 per litre

These are ex-depot prices and will remain valid for the current fortnight unless revised again.

Government Taxes and Levies on Fuel

Despite the price reduction, a major portion of fuel prices still consists of government charges. Although GST is zero on petroleum products, several other levies are applied.

Currently, the government charges:

  • Petrol levy of Rs. 82 per litre on petrol
  • Petrol levy of Rs. 78 per litre on diesel
  • Climate Support Levy (CSL) of Rs. 2.50 per litre
  • Customs duty of around Rs. 16–17 per litre
  • Distribution and dealer margins of about Rs. 17 per litre

These charges significantly contribute to the final price paid by consumers

Fuel prices in Pakistan will continue to depend on global oil markets and the rupee’s performance. While the current reduction offers short-term relief, future revisions remain possible.
